CIM DESIGNATION PROGRAMS
The Canadian Institute of Management (CIM) is a federally chartered, not-for-profit organization institute that is licensed to award the following professional designations. These designations signify Canada’s leaders in general management and administration.
CERTIFIED IN MANAGEMENT (C.I.M) DESIGNATION
In addition to the fellowship, social and professional networking opportunities, applicants with a CIMA certificate will be eligible to apply for the C.I.M. (Certified in Management) designation once they have acquired two (2) years of Canadian supervisory or management work experience. In order to be granted the designation, candidates will be required to submit an application, along with two letters of reference and a current resume within six (6) years of completing the prescribed studies
PROFESSIONAL MANAGER (P.Mgr.) DESIGNATION
The Professional Manager (P.Mgr.) designation recognizes individuals from various specialty disciplines who meet an established set of criteria, reflecting high standards of professional integrity and work performance. The P.Mgr. designation denotes an academic and/or practical experience background, prompting business to look at the holders of this designation with confidence in their management skills.
The Professional Manager (P.Mgr.) designation:
- Was established by Federal Charter in 1967
- Is a visible benchmark of your professional management achievements
- Is a statement that you ascribe to a high standard of management professionalism
- Is a commitment to a Code of Ethics
- Is a statement of your commitment to continuous professional development and learning
- Is a celebration of the individual’s personal growth and business achievements
Professional Manager membership encompasses individuals who are practicing managers/supervisors and retired business persons. They all have wide-ranging business backgrounds that include accounting, education, financial services, health care, manufacturing, personal services, printing and publishing, corporate training and government services. Businesses represented by these individuals may be large corporate organizations or small entrepreneurial enterprises. All share a commitment to the value of professional management practices.
CHARTERED MANAGER (C.MGR.) PROGRAM
Chartered Manager is the CIM’s senior qualification and chartered professional designation. The C.Mgr. is Canada’s only senior multi-disciplinary management designation. This designation is available to those individuals who have achieved academic accomplishments in management beyond the CIM program. Graduates of the CIM program may apply these credits towards the 20 courses required for the C.Mgr. designation.
Persons holding a professional designation with CIM are required to maintain their membership in good standing with the Institute.
